“Having been a member of friendsfirst on and off for some four years with a somewhat chequered “career”. I was about to give up when I was told by friendsfirst that 112 mature Christian women wanted to meet me. One of those 112 mature Christian women was Helen. We contacted each other by e-Mail, text and phone. Sadly, Helen’s mum died a few days before our meeting. Happily, Helen still wanted to go ahead with our arranged meeting. We had established a “rapport” which stood her in good stead as she just wanted “to get out of the house”. We took things gently as I had just finished a long term relationship.

When I went on holiday to Scandinavia later that summer, little did I realise that it would be the last holiday I took on my own. Helan missed me something shocking (as I did her) and thanks to text messages we kept in constant touch. We are such a pair of soppies we even text each other in the same room!

Anyway at Christmas 2006, we went to Austria and it all “gelled” then. We had an unforgettable time listening to “Silent Night” in German where it was originally performed, with cups of steaming hot chocolate. Awwwwh! This was followed by a cruise on the Danube and yes, it really is blue.

I was searching for a mature Christian woman for a long term relationship and ended up meeting my soul mate. We got engaged on St Valentine’s Day (when else) 2007 and got married in October 2007. Our three children and one grandson all get along famously. And so do we!”
